It Wasn’t Me!

August 11, 2010

This is just hilarious, especially how The Message translation reads. Genesis 3:12 says, “The Woman you gave me as a companion, she gave me the fruit from the tree, and yes, I ate it!” It sounds like my daughter throwing a tantrum, “Calvin made me do it, and yes I did it!” Put a diaper on Adam and give him a bottle. Many times we are just like Adam, always trying to blame someone else for our mistakes. Yes, it is hard to do, in some situations, but we need to try our best to own up to our mistakes. Most of the time, there I go trying to rationalize some situations! All of the time, if we are the ones making the mistake we need to own up to it! I always tell me duaghter just tell me the truth because one spanking is better than two!

Night, Night

August 9, 2010

It says in Genesis 2, “God blessed the seventh day, He made it a Holy Day, Because on that day he rested from his work”. We should all take a page out of God’s book! How hard that really is? Take me for example, I look at my Sunday’s and sometimes that is my busiest day of the week. We all need to slow down and if nothing else let our bodies rest. That is one of my goals as the new school year starts, LET MY BODY REST! We will see how it goes!

Save the Day

May 13, 2010

Psalms 48:14 says, “For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” There is no leaving in our God. I don’t believe that word is even in His vocabulary! In this world we just kind of get used to people leaving us. Friends leave us for any numerous reasons. Spouse can leave us if they get tired of marriage. Parents, that aren’t connected, can leave us. Our God on the other hand will be with us until the end of our life. We can fail, fall, screw up, walk away, get mad, etc.., etc… and He will still be standing their when the smoke clears! Let Him be your guide today! Let Him save your day.

Be Still

May 11, 2010

Psalm 46: 10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” That command may be the hardest command in the entire Bible to obey. Be still! Don’t move! Slow down! In our society it is go, go, go! Be first! Hurry! Rarely do you ever stop moving, but this is what our God is asking us to do. He is the one with all the answers. We just need to slow down enough to hear what He says. If we keep trying to do this life on our own, we are going to have a hard time surviving. Today make it a point just to take a breather for a few minutes. See what God has to say to you!

Flashlight

May 3, 2010

Psalm 43: 3 says, “Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me”. Just as you are stumbling around in a dark room with out light, we fumble through life without a clue. Many times we try ourselves to make it through the dark times in our life. It seems we have all the answers. The sad truth about it is that we don’t know the right way to go most of the time. That is why it is important to have a relationship with Christ. He becomes our flashlight in the tough times. So if you find yourself in a dark situation, quote this verse. He will enlighten your world and guide you to a higher and brighter spot in life.

Reach

April 29, 2010

Psalm 41:1 says, “Blessed is he who has regard for the weak”. As Christians this verse is very important. We are supposed to be the light of the world, but all to often we dim our light when it comes to helping people who are
“lesser” than we are. So look around you, and try to find someone who is being ignored. Maybe it is someone on your sports team. I know all about this one! We have players all the time that come to us and say that they are quitting because no one on the team likes them. Maybe its a coworker that is always off in the corner. Go up to them and spark up a conversation. You might change their world. God wants us to reach out to the weak. He wants us to reach out to the leftouts! God blesses for the kind words to those that seem to be rejected. Reach out your hand today.

A Short Walk

April 27, 2010

Psalm 39:5 says, ” Each man’s life is but a breath”. We really never think about how short our time on earth is. I can remember like it was yesterday playing catch with my dad in the back yard. Now I am watching my daughter hit a softball off of a tee. Life goes by so fast! Don’t take it for granite. Life is a very short walk. Slow down and soak it in. Take time for the ones that you love and for the ones that love you. We never know when our time is up and when it is, there is no turning back!

Genie in the Bottle

April 25, 2010

Psalm 37: 4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”. Now listen, God is not a “Genie in a Bottle”! You can’t just sit back and say I want three Big Mac’s and they will magically appear. However, God does give us the desires of our heart. If we are within His will, if we are in tuned with what God is doing, then He will give us what we want. His dreams for our life is our dreams, and our dreams are His dreams! So please dial in Jesus today. He has so much to offer you! Every desire or dream that is deep down inside of your body could come true, if you just let God be apart of it!

Secret Service

April 22, 2010

Psalm 34: 7 says, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them”. Have you every noticed the stream of black suited guys that are always surrounding the President? That is the Secret Service. Their job is to protect the President at all times. No matter where the President goes they are with him. If he is at the beach, they are there. If he attends a sporting event, they are there. Even when the President is eating his dinner they are protecting him. It doesn’t stop when he leaves office either! The President has protection for life. After he leaves office the secret service watches and protects him for the rest of his life. That is pretty impressive! We have that same luxury as Christians. We are always being watched by our Lord Jesus. He has a host of angels encamped around us. When we get in trouble we should turn to Him, because He is our secret service, and He will deliver us from evil every time!

God’s Plan

April 21, 2010

Psalm 33: 11 says, ” the plans of the Lord stand firm forever”. So many times we are the one making plans for our lives. You know how long our plans seem to stay on course? About three minutes and twenty-seven seconds! When I was 20 years old I had my whole life planned out, every one of those plans exploded by the time I was 25. It wasn’t until I started listening to God, and letting Him plan my life that I started trucking along. God’s plans are solid. Stop looking for what you want, and ask the Lord what He wants from you. Then you will take off like a rocket!
